Industrial products and equipment would never be complete without plastic end caps fitted on to the rough edges and tough ends of products, parts and machineries. Products, typically made of heavy steel or iron, tend to be manufactured towards certain ends but that leaves screws, nuts and bolts exposed to risk of damage. Plastic end caps are all about adding a safe layer of protection over the protrusions, whether it is the rough edges or electrical plugs, or any other surface that warrants protection to the structures as well as prevention of injury or risks to people who may be in touch with them in manufacturing, handling, transportation and usage.
Plastic end caps include round end caps that are purposefully designed to protect the outer diameters of screws and valves. These caps feature internal moulded rings designed for additional grip on the surface, or they may have internal ribs meant for superior retention on the tubes and protrusions that they are to fit on. They are made of low density polyethylene (LDPE) and come in a wide range of sizes, typically made of red or blue.
Plastic end caps also include Butt Weld Caps that are designed to maximise protection on butt-weld ends on a wide range of valves, pumps as well as on heat exchangers. These are caps that would not crack or chip even when exposed to trying conditions and they eliminate the need for plywood or fasteners. Plastic end caps perform the all-important function of protecting the ends from damage, especially during shipping and handling.
There would also be instances where the various parts that need to be covered and protected could be of different sizes and various circumferences, where plastic end caps would need to be adaptable to suit the different surfaces. In such cases, the best plastic end caps that could come of use would be the ones with tapered design, where the variable inner diameters and outer diameters could be effectively covered for optimum protection from dirt, dust, moisture and corrosion, when the parts and products tend to be shipped across varying conditions.
Plastic end caps need not necessarily be of the same shape, and there are heavy duty caps that are available in different forms such as square or round-ball shapes, which could come of use in square tubular steel structures as well as for press fit that would give additional benefits of looks and decorative properties.
